We set sail on the Fred Olsen Cruise ship Bolette from Newcastle upon Tyne on the 20th May 2023. After leaving the sights along the banks of the River Tyne, we cross about 400 miles over the North Sea to get our first glimpse of Norway late afternoon on the 21st May, day two. A very smooth crossing made it that much more enjoyable as we sampled our first delights of food and drinks. The first place we passed was Stavanger as we entered Lysefjord just a few miles further inland. Our first amazing sight was Pulpit Rock towering high above.
To end day two, we cruise overnight to pass through Hardangerfjord and onto Eidfjord. Day three starts with a morning coach ride from Eidfjord to see the Hardangervidda plateau with sightseeing on the way to see the frozen Halne Lake. After returning back on board, we sail to see the spectacular Furebergfossen waterfalls then again sail through the night to arrive in Bergen.
Day four we have a full day ashore in Bergen where we ride the Fløibanen Funicular up Mount Fløyen to see the amazing views over the city. We meander around this beautiful city enjoying the lovely sunny weather and amongst other thing the Fish Market.
Watch Part Two to see what the remaining three days had in store.
