Fjord Line AS is a ferry company that was founded in 1993. The company operates passenger and freight traffic by ship in the North Sea and Skagerrak with routes from Norway to Denmark and Sweden . Fjord Line was established with Danmarkslinjen in June 1993 , and the company was taken over by the BNR group on 1 December 1995 . In the autumn of 1998, the England line was bought from Color Line but it was later taken over by DFDS.
The shipping company operates the passenger ferries MS "Bergensfjord" and MS "Stavangerfjord" , which sail between Bergen, Stavanger, Hirtshals and Langesund (Bamble), MS "Oslofjord" (1993) which sails between Sandefjord and Strömstad, and the newly built HSC "Fjord FSTR" in the summer season (the predecessor was HSC Fjord Cat) in the summer between Kristiansand and Hirtshals. In addition to passenger traffic, Fjord Line transports commercial vehicles and goods, which are handled by Fjord Line's cargo departments in Norway and Denmark. In 2013/2014, the shipping company introduced two new cruise ferries for daily departures on both lines.
The first ferry, "Stavangerfjord", made its maiden voyage from Bergen to Hirthals on 14 July 2013. The date was planned to be 29 May, but this was not possible due to delays in preparing the ship. On 15 July 2013, MS "Stavangerfjord" also started to transport passengers between Hirtshals and Langesund .
The Fjord Line group has its head office in Egersund . The company has sales offices in Langesund (Bamble), Bergen , Stavanger , Kristiansand and Hirtshals in Denmark . The marketing department is located in Sandefjord.
On 20 August 2008, the shipping company decided to cut out the ports of call Haugesund , Egersund and Hanstholm . Instead, calls are made to Risavika near Stavanger and Hirtshals in Denmark.
Three of the ships owned by Fjord Line are registered in Denmark. They have a home port in Hirtshals, even though Fjord Line is a Norwegian ferry company. In April 2020, it was decided that "MS Oslofjord" will sail under the Norwegian flag.
Swedish Rickard Ternblom took over as CEO of Fjord Line since 1.1.15, succeeding Ingvald Fardal. In autumn 2020, Arne Roland took over as interim manager and in January 2021, Danish Brian Thorsted Hansen will take over the position.
