Originally known as Girl Effect, the club was founded as an initiative aiming to tackle the issue of gender inequality. In 2019, Girl Effect changed its name to 50:50 so as to further accommodate the sentiment of equality. While Our main mission is to tackle the prevailing gender inequalities today, we also look into other issues affecting the sentiment of equality as a whole. we believe that gender inequality affects and is influenced by various UN sustainable development goals, especially goals 5 and 10 which address gender equality and reduced inequalities respectively. we have addressed this through initiatives to raise awareness for organisations such as Women for Afghan Women, UN Aids, Amnesty International, Brystkreftforeningen and Equality Now. This year, We've held fundraisers such as a ribbon and waffle sale for humanitarian aid in Ukraine, our annual talent show and many more! We are always open to change and believe that through fostering an environment within the iss community, we can protect and improve the one outside.
