Heddal Stave church in Notodden - the largest wooden stave church in Norway.
Norway's largest stave church, Heddal Stave Church, the most beautiful of them all! The magnificent stave church, with the three towers as a distinctive feature, is a national cultural treasure that displays fantastic wood-building art. The church has been in the valley for many centuries, ever since the 13th century. It was created in a time of upheaval between pagan and Christian faith, it is shown in symbols and ornaments. In the stave church you step into a historical memorial and experience the meeting place of countless Heddal families, it's still in use as the main church in the village for large parts of the year.
