In this episode of Shared Learning, Charlie Hulks and Lynn Park reflect on their experiences promoting student agency in the high school Theory of Knowledge classroom. They highlight a recent project where students took on the role of teachers responsible for designing learning opportunities for the rest of the class. Charlie and Lynn explore how this approach provides space for students to take meaningful ownership of the learning process and can increase student motivation. They also discuss the planning and scaffolding work behind the scenes so that students feel supported throughout the learning process. Charlie and Lynn also emphasise how trust -among teachers, students, and colleagues - is an essential ingredient for these types of learning experiences.
